Enid (08/08):
Terrier Mix Spayed Female 6 years old Montgomery County SPCA (518) 842-8050

I am a very sweet and happy dog who loves attention.
I'll play when you want me to play and I'll relax when you want me to relax. I've been waiting for someone
to come and take me home for 6 months already! I was abandoned outside the shelter and even though it's much
better than being on the street, a home would be wonderful! Unfortunately I can't be in a home with cats
but some dogs are okay. If you have one, we would need to meet first. I'm great with kids though and we
could play together! I love toys and I really enjoy going for walks. I walk nicely on a leash and I'm good
on car rides too. I'm house-trained and crate-trained and I even know all my basic commands. The people here
at the shelter love my coloring... I have a brindle body and pretty white coloring on my face with little
brown spots. I promise I won't disappoint you if you'll just give me a second chance. Thank you! |

Faith (06/08):
Lab Mix Spayed Female 8 1/2 years old Peppertree Rescue (518) 435-7425

I wish my family would have found a place to live for all of us
but they left me at a NYC shelter instead when their landlord said, "NO PETS." I've been with Peppertree for 8
months now which is too long for such a sweet dog. I just hope I find a new family soon and I hope that this time
it will be forever. I'm house-trained, crate-trained and up to date on all my vaccinations. I'm friendly, I love
to be petted and just looking at me will get you a happy tail wag. I love to go for walks but I need some help in
learning not to pull. I will need to start off with a harness or training lead. But I do ride very nicely in a car!
I'm always interested in what's going on but I can also lie down and chill out nicely. Training me to do anything
would be a cinch because I love treats so much! I get along with other dogs but I don't necessarily want them near
my food. If you have another dog, putting up my bowls after I eat might help. But since I do tend to guard my food,
I would be best placed in a home with adults only or with older children who are taught to understand this doggie
behavior. Other than that, I am one wonderful girl who wants to snuggle and be friendly to everyone. I hope I have
talked you into at least thinking about letting me be your loving companion!

Keaton (06/08):
Shepherd Neutered Male Approx. 5 years old Peppertree Rescue (518) 435-7425

I've overheard them say that I am simply a wonderful dog!
And how cute am I with this face and ears? Unfortunately I got lost down in NYC and they are so overloaded
with dogs in their shelters, I ended up in a rescue up here in Albany. Thank heavens. At least now I have a chance.
But I've been here for almost 5 months now and I'd really like to move into that special place they call
a "forever home." I am a laid back boy when you want me to be but full of energy and eager to learn too!
I'm great with people (but older children only please). I am initially shy in new situations but I will
just blossom with a little TLC. I love to go for walks (I'm best with a harness) and I LOVE to play any game
you want to play. If you have other dogs, I want to be the dominant one. I also much prefer larger dogs to small dogs.
I can be around "savvy cats" but if they run I think it's pretty fun to chase them. And I think it's pretty cool
that I can easily jump a 4 ft. fence but the people don't think it's all that amusing. So if you do have a fenced yard,
the fence needs to be 6 ft. high. Well, that's my story. I think the word that sums me up best is "devoted."
Please apply soon so I can go home! I know I will be a very treasured companion. |

Marty (05/08):
Lab Mix Neutered Male 1 year old Help Orphan Puppies (518) 799-2006

Even when it was bitter cold and snowing, my owners refused to
bring me inside or feed me. I was starving to death in North Carolina. Finally, a good samaritan alerted the rescue.
I am now up to date on all my shots, house-trained, crated-trained and eating well! I am still shy at first but I
will quickly warm up to you if you just give me a little time and patience. In fact, once I get to know you I would
cuddle up to you 24/7 if you'd let me! But because of my background and shyness, they say I need a quiet home without
a lot of people coming and going, and I should probably be in a home without small children. I am currently living
with other dogs of all sizes and I get along with everyone. I ride nicely in the car, I walk well on a leash and
I love to play, especially with my tennis ball. I've been here at the rescue for a while now and even though it's
better than where I came from, I sure would like to meet my forever family soon! |

Lucky (05/08):
Yellow Lab Mix Spayed Female 1 year old Good Shepherd K-9 Rescue (518) 393-0755 (518) 372-1514

I was rescued from the end of a cable where I was very unhappy
for the first few months of my life. Now I'm enjoying the freedom of running as fast as I can here at the rescue,
although I'm still craving a home to call my very own. I am house trained and crate trained. I'm in a foster home
with a cat and other dogs. I have to admit that I do like to chase cats. But once I get to know them, I'll settle
down. I love to play with other dogs and I have two best friends named Sadie and Millie who you can see
at www.K9adopt.org. They are both about my age and
I would be in heaven if I could be adopted with one of them, but I know it's not a perfect world. I also like to go
for walks, snuggle in bed with people, or just lie on my own bed which I hope will be right next you yours! Please
call Sherry at 393-0755 if you think you might like me to be a part of your family. |

Buddy (03/08):
Akita/Shepherd Mix (?) Neutered Male 2 years old Helping Paws Rescue (518) 248-0355

I am so full of life and look at my ears!
How could someone not fall in love with me yet? At 40 pounds, I'm just the right size and
at just under two years old, I'm still at a good age for training. Sadly, I lived outside
tied to a chain for the first year and a half of my life. I never had an opportunity to play
and socialize with other puppies or people. But guess what? I love people, I love other dogs
and I love children! Cats though...not so much...in fact, definitely no cats. I'm still
learning basic manners and I'm almost housebroken but with your help I'll have no problem.
I really would like someone to work with me on a daily basis just like they would with a new puppy.
I think I would make a good companion for someone who is active and likes the outdoors.
But I want to spend my nights indoors with people who will love me and take care of me.
I love tummy rubs. I love to play and I give nice kisses. I don't understand why I've been
at the rescue for 6 months already. Please give me a chance to be part of a family. |

Lottie (02/08):
Terrier/Rottweiler Mix Spayed Female 10-11 years old Ayres Animal Shelter (518) 673-5670

I have a very sad story. I was brought to the shelter in May 2007.
I had lived my whole life with a family that included 3 other dogs and 2 cats. I got along with everyone.
My people say I nipped at someone one day when the person stepped on my arthritic paw. Well, I never nipped before
and I've never nipped since so I guess you need to decide... I can tell you that my arthritis hurts but
with a few supplements and special food, I feel much better. I can go for nice walks and I can even play a little.
After being such a good dog for all those years, I thought I would be taken care of in my old age. Well...
I'm still hoping. I am completely housebroken and great on a leash. I'm friendly and I even know how to "shake."
I'm terribly afraid of thunderstorms so between that and my arthritis, I would call myself a "special needs" dog.
I would be best in a home with just adults because of my age and my arthritis. I need someone who will give me
some medicine, feed me the right food and take me to the vet for regular check-ups. More than anything,
I just want to live the last few years of my life with someone who will keep me safe and understand that old
dogs need unconditional love too. I know I certainly still have a lot of love to give. |
