HAPPY ENDING!!!

This is Honey. Thanks to Julie, an animal lover who was helping to spread the word, we have had this lost dog on our website for the past 5 months. Honey belongs to Doug and Patty who got her from a rescue in March 2008. Shortly afterwards, Doug brought her to his uncle's house. He tied her up to the tree for just a few minutes while he went inside. When he came back out, Honey was gone. Doug couldn't find her anywhere. He put adds in all the local papers and flyers up all over town. He checked the shelters. He even hired an agency that claims to help find lost pets. A couple of people saw Honey the first week in the woods that were near his uncle's house. After that, there were no sightings. Doug was devastated. Eventually, a friend of his gave him another dog. Then in July the APF called Doug and told him that a woman named Helen called them to say she had been feeding a dog that was living in the woods near her home. She said the dog ran away every time she went outside. She had been documenting the days and times that she saw the dog and when she fed it. Doug's friend offered to set up a cage to trap the dog. Helen watched for the dog and called Doug with reports. The first time the dog went into the cage, the door didn't close so the dog ate and left! But the next time... at 6am... Helen called Doug with the news that the dog was in the cage. Doug went right over and although Honey growled just a little at his friend, she gave Doug's hand a little lick. Honey is now home with Doug, Patty and Paco (her "brother"). She won't let herself out of Doug and Patty's sight. And of course we're all so grateful that there are people like Helen in the world. She certainly was responsible for this happy ending!!
